Tanacross Culture Week kicked off Monday with a tea race and nature walk. For the tea race, students were given a scenario: You and a friend are out on the river and something happened to your boat, and your friend was injured. You need to help your friend and stay warm - what will you do?
Students were given the task of figuring out how to quickly build a fire with what was available, boil water, and make tea. The tea race proved to be competitive, educational, and fun! Later, students went on a nature walk and learned to identify local plants with medicinal purposes, as well as how to prepare them.
